William F. Bailey Obituary

William Forman Bailey, 91, of Fox River Grove, IL, passed away peacefully at home on October 19th, 2022, with his loving family around him. He was born on January 2nd, 1931, at Suburban General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  He grew up in Emsworth, PA, and graduated from Avonworth High School in 1949. He married Lois Adella Pinkerton on March 24th, 1951, they were married for 71 wonderful years.


William (Bill) was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended aviation school in the 1950s and enlisted in the Airforce upon graduation. He was stationed at the Vance Airforce base, assigned to the Air Training Command. He flew and maintained WWII circa T-6A’s during the Korean war. He was honorably discharged and started his aviation career at Beckett Aviation of Pittsburgh, PA. He then moved his family to Illinois, where he worked for Abbott Laboratories in the aviation department for the next 35 years. His career allowed him to travel the world. He was an active member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), where he was awarded one of the highest honors for flight safety. He was a member of St. Matthews Church in Barrington, IL, and an active member of the local Old English Sheepdogs club, as a dog owner and handler. He remained an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan for his entire life.


William is predeceased in death by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Bailey, in-laws Gilbert and Olga Pinkerton, and his beloved wife, Lois Adela Bailey. William is survived by his children Patricia Bailey, Donna Lundelius (Thomas), William G. Bailey (Alyson), grandchildren Bradford (Melissa)Riemann, Meredith Riemann, Delaney (Bryan)Ballard, Logan Lundelius, Ryan Lundelius, Ethan Bailey, Emma Bailey, Evan Bailey, and great-granddaughter Cecilia Ballard.


In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). There will be a celebration of his life at a later date for immediate family and close friends at the Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary Chapel.
