Wayne Katzenberger Obituary

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Wayne Stanley Katzenberger, 68, passed away on April 3, 2022, at his home in Cary, Illinois.

Wayne is survived by his children; Liane (Jesse) Weaver, John (Amanda), Chelsea Katzenberger, Brett (Savannah) Butterfield, and Dana (Jeff) Borta; his grandchildren Evan and Myles Weaver, Ryatt and Jayna Borta, Tristan Katzenberger, Charles Price, Payten Crane; and his siblings Marty, Keith, and Bette Anne. He is predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Michele Katzenberger, whom he will love “forever and an eternity”.

Wayne was born to Martin Sr. and Gladys Katzenberger on April 3, 1954. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago and quickly climbed the ranks as a talented mechanical engineer. His colleagues frequently praised his patience and ability to mentor those around him.

Wayne was a selfless and devoted family man that always found a way to spend time with his loved ones. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching Jeopardy, WGN News, Wheel of Fortune, and his favorite sports teams - the Cubs and Bears. But, above all, he truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren laugh uncontrollably as he bounced them on his knee and sang to them.

In commemoration of Wayne's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Heart Association. A celebration of life event is being planned for a later date.
