SYCAMORE - Uva Catherine Romano, 92, of Sycamore passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 27,1929 in Virginia to John and Marie Norman. Uva met her husband Bill in her hometown of Virginia while he was stationed in the U.S. Army. They moved to Chicago and eventually built a home in Carpentersville where they raised nine children. 

 

Uva was a devoted mother and grandmother who always  welcomed everyone into her home. Pasta and lasagne dinners with homemade gravy and the best meatballs are favorite memories for her family. 

 

After her kids were grown, Uva worked for 20+ years before her retirement from Motorola in Schaumburg, IL. 

 

Uva was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Romano, her daughter Sue Hewlett, two infant granddaughters, Catherine Marie and Constance Rose, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. 

 

Uva is survived by her children: Richard (Rose) Romano, Cynthia Romano, Paul (Lori) Romano, John Romano, Joan Romano, Thomas (Cheryl) Romano, Donald (Lynn) Romano, Catherine Romano., and son-in-law Robert Hewlett. Uva has 20 grandchildren,17 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. 

 

Uva has asked her family and friends to celebrate her Irish heritage by wearing bright, sparkly, and colorful clothing, or her favorite color purple, to her service. 

 

The services will be on August 3, 2022 at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home at 403 Silver Lake Rd., in Cary, IL. The visitation will be held from  11a.m.-1 p.m. The celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. 

 

Burial will immediately follow at Windridge Memorial Park 7014 S. Rawson Bridge Rd., Cary. In lieu of flowers, donations  may be given in memory of Uva Romano  to Life Missions, at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, in Sycamore, IL.
