Susan Astrid (Klein) Gallagher

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 with family by her side after a strong and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63 years. 

Susan was born December 23, 1958 to parents of Theodore and Elsa Klein. She grew up in Fox River Grove,IL where she attended Cary-Grove High school and met her high school sweet heart. Susan then went on to Southern Illinois University where she graduated in ’81 with a degree in child and family services. This sparked her passion for teaching and working with young children. Susan used her talents to be a Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts leader, teaching CCD, and inspiring young children as a preschool teacher at Cary Methodist and Salem Methodist Preschools. 

Susan touched many lives with her strong faith and unwavering perseverance. She started Strength For Hope’s Mama as well as her ministry of spreading the word of Jesus Calling. She also had many strong bonds of faith with women from her church, St. Peter and Paul. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Tom Gallagher; her children Taryn (Caleb) Hope and Tommy (Alicia) Gallagher; her brothers and sister Tim (Suzie) Klein, Phil (Candace) Klein and Toni (John) Gilbert; and grandchildren Brooks, Ty, and Mia Hope. She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and the countless lives she impacted over the years. 

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 with a visitation beginning at 12:00 PM and concluding with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. at Avanté Banquets, 1050 Northwest Hwy., Fox River Grove, IL 60021 with Reverend David Francis Ryan with the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish. 

Her final resting place will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Fox River Grove.
