Steve Gilfether, of Cary, died August 24th, 2024 at home after a recurrence of cancer. He was born January 22, 1947 in Cleveland, OH to Marilyn (Stone) and Robert Gilfether, who both predecease him. Raised in Elyria and North Ridgeville, OH, Steve married Rosie (Myers) Gilfether in 1971 and they eventually settled in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Steve is survived by their only child Erika (Nadir), grandchildren (Seamus and Samina), his siblings (Sharon Aulisio, Sally Balog, Kevin Gilfether, and Kathy Yager) and a lifetime’s worth of friends, acquaintances and colleagues who experienced his quiet generosity, unwavering ability to show up exactly at the time he was needed most, and unending commitment to well thought-out plans and ideas.
Memorial visitation for Steve will be Friday, August 30th from 1:00-3:00 pm with a service to follow at 3:00pm at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd Cary, IL 60013. Visit kahlemoore.com to express condolences.
