Stanley Lee Pennington, preferably known as Stan to his friends and family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on August 9, 2024, at the age of 82, in Cary, Illinois. Born on October 14, 1941, in South Miami, Florida, Stan's love for his family was evident.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Constance "Connie" Pennington, who was not just his partner in life but also his best friend. Their love story began on wheels at the Just For Fun Roller Rink, where Stan worked as a Floor Guard. It was there that he swept Connie off her feet, both literally and figuratively. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the bustling energy of a large family. Stan was a devoted father to Pamela (Les) Majewski, Khristy (Michael) Stoffer, Barbara (Richard) Outinen, Beth (Scott) Stauffer, and Allen (Kristen) Schinkel. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and he leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Alysse, Gregory, Samantha, Nick, Justin, Shelby, and Sean. Stan also had the joy of knowing his great-grandchildren, Naevia, Addison, Dalton, and Cole, whose youthful spirits kept him young at heart.
Stan's professional life was characterized by commitment and hard work. He dedicated many years to Knaack Mfg, where he was known for his reliability and expertise, eventually retiring at the age of 62. However, retirement did not mean slowing down for Stan. He was an avid bowler, a master at woodworking, and an enthusiastic camper and fisherman. Stan could often be found gliding across the roller rink, a hobby that not only brought him joy but also represented a pivotal chapter in his life story.
Stan enjoyed selling Watkins products at the local Farmer's Market, where he was a familiar face to many. Stan's love for the outdoors was matched by his skill with his hands, as he created countless woodworking projects and wine cork trivets that will serve as enduring reminders of his talent and creativity.
His legacy is not only in the structures he built or the products he sold but in the hearts he touched and the family he nurtured as he was a simple man.
As we say goodbye to Stan, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by joy, resilience, and an enduring love that will forever be remembered. Stan’s memory will be cherished and celebrated, as he has left an indelible mark on the lives of many. Though he may be gone from our sight, his memories will remain with us always. In lieu of flowers memorials in Stan's name would be appreciated to Alzheimer's Research.
