Sharon L. (Haak) Lybarger Obituary

Sharon Lee Lybarger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, departed from this world on August 1, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on March 10, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa, Sharon was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully at Encore Memory Care in Crystal Lake, Illinois, after a courageous 10 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Sharon and Ken moved to Trout Valley, IL in July of 2023 to a beautiful house on the Fox River and enjoyed their time together riding around in their golf cart.

Sharon grew up in the heart of Davenport, where she attended Davenport Central High School, graduating with the class of 1960. Her early life in Davenport laid the foundation for her unwavering work ethic and her warm, welcoming spirit. Sharon's professional journey began as a diligent secretary at Eastern Iowa Central Train, where she was known for her efficiency and kindness. Later on, she took on an office job supporting her husband, Ken, at Lybarger Electric, where her organizational skills and dedication shined.

In 1967, Sharon married the love of her life, Ken Lybarger, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Jeffrey and Kimberly. Sharon's devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother to her five grandchildren, Jake, Tyler, Sarah, Gabriel, and Joshua. Her gentle guidance and unconditional love have left an indelible mark on their hearts.

Sharon's zest for life was contagious, and her passion for travel brought her and Ken to many beautiful destinations. They shared a particular fondness for Estes Park, Colorado, and the warm weather of Florida, exploring the wonders of these places in their cherished motor home. As active members of the Holiday Ramblers Club, Sharon and Ken enjoyed countless adventures and formed lifelong friendships with fellow club members. Their shared experiences on the road were some of Sharon's most treasured memories.

Throughout her life, Sharon was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort to those around her. Her warm smile and generous spirit made her a beloved figure in her community. Sharon's ability to connect with others, to listen with empathy, and to offer words of encouragement, made her a friend to many.

Sharon is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Ken Lybarger; her son, Jeffrey Lybarger and daughter-in-law Vicki, Davenport, Iowa; her daughter, Kimberly Lybarger Katz and son-in-law Doug, Trout Valley, IL; and her cherished grandchildren, Jake Lybarger, Tyler Lybarger, Sarah Katz, Gabriel Katz, and Joshua Katz.
