Samuel Joseph Bianchi Obituary

Samuel Joseph Bianchi, age 77, of Algonquin, IL, passed away on February 10, 2026. He was born March 15, 1948 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Rose (née Grigel) and John Bianchi Sr.

A proud graduate of Steinmetz High School, Class of 1966, Samuel continued his education at Triton College before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Army in 1968 and served honorably until 1970 as a military policeman with the 2nd Military Police Company, 2nd Infantry Division, stationed in Korea. His sense of duty and quiet strength would characterize the rest of his life.

After returning home, Samuel worked at Hall Printing before discovering his gift for carpentry. Through hard work and determination, he founded Colonial Carpet, a business he faithfully operated for 45 years. To Samuel, customers were never just customers—they were friends. He took a genuine interest in their lives, remembering the details that mattered and listening more than he spoke. He was a man of few words, but the words he chose carried weight and wisdom.

Samuel met the love of his life, April Tedeschi, at Christian Congregation Church. Their first date was at Jack in the Box—a simple beginning to a beautiful love story. They were married for 55 wonderful years, building a life centered on faith, family, and togetherness. Samuel valued joy and shared experiences over possessions, believing that life’s greatest treasures were the people around the table.

Family was his greatest pride. Nothing brought him more happiness than watching his children succeed. He cherished watching Jake and Nick play baseball in Cooperstown, New York, and treasured family Thanksgivings on Sanibel Island with April’s family. He loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs—especially at spring training in Arizona—and was also a devote Bears fan.

Samuel found peace in deer hunting, joy in car shows, and freedom boating on the Fox River. He loved his church family deeply and lived his faith daily, striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus. His generosity was quiet but constant—pulling over to help strangers on the side of the road, snowplowing neighbors’ driveways, and always putting others before himself. He took people under his wing, offering guidance, support, and encouragement without seeking recognition.

Samuel’s legacy is one of selflessness, integrity, faith, and love. He showed those around him that a meaningful life is built not on what you accumulate, but on how you serve and how deeply you love. He modeled I Corinthians 10:31 – “… whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Dan Demay. He is survived by his wife, April (née Tedeschi) Bianchi; children, Sam Bianchi, Patti Bianchi, Karen Bianchi, Maria (Jeff) Totten, Jake (Makenna) Bianchi, and Nick Bianchi; siblings, John (Sandra) Bianchi Jr, Francine (Paul) Ernst, Albert (Theresa) Bianchi, and Theodore (Gina) Bianchi; and grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Riley, Katelyn, Amanda, Sophia, Hailey, Isaac, Judah, Lucan, Giovanna, and Carter. He was also deeply loved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
