Ruth A. (Main) Holtzapple

Ruth Agnes Holtzapple, 93, of Crystal Lake, passed away April 3, 2022, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Harold and Valerie Main, November 22, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois. Ruth graduated from Taft High School in 1946. She married Robert Holtzapple on March 17, 1962 in Fox River Grove, IL.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Robert Holtzapple and four children: Cathy (Terry) Altenburg, of Woodstock, IL; Benjamin (Ann) Mammina, of Las Vegas, NV; Pamela (John) Mitchell of Fox River Grove, IL; and Holly (David) Ward of Algonquin, IL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, her father, two sisters and a brother.

Ruth was an accomplished cook at North Grade School in Elementary School District 47 in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was an avid square dancer with her husband and a member of the Wigwam Wigglers Square Dancing Club as well as their camping group. She was active in the Fox River Grove Community United Methodist Church and later in the First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. She was always extending a helping hand to those in need. Ruth was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

There will be a visitation and service for Ruth on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding with a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park.
