Ruth A. (Anderson) Barrett Obituary

Ruth A. Barrett, age 91, wife of James L. Barrett passed away on 11/13/23. Ruth grew up in Park Ridge, graduating from Maine Township High School in 1950 and Albion College in 1954. Following their marriage, she taught 1st Grade for 3 years. She then started a family in 1957 and ended up with 4 boys, Glenn, Bruce, Chuck and Curt. She was actively involved in the Cary United Methodist Church and helped establish the Cary Methodists Pre-school in 1973 where she was director until 1987. Then the Joy of Grandchildren began with Carly, Mitchell, Grace, Adam, Elizabeth and Valerie. Following Jim's retirement 1997 they left Cary and divided time between Michigan and Arizona. In 2014 they sold their homes and settled in as residents at Lake Barrington Woods retirement facility, feeling that once again they were coming home, as 3 sons and their families were again close by. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many who loved to cook and played a mean game of ping-pong. She will be missed by all but we are comforted that she has been reunited with Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Marian Anderson and her husband James L. Barrett. Survivors include her sister Janet Ferguson, Sons Glenn, Bruce (Cheryl), Chuck (Jeanne) and Curt (Deb) and grandchildren Carly, Mitchell, Grace, Adam, Elizabeth and Valerie. Services to be held at the Cary United Methodist Church on December 2, 2023. Visitation at 11:00am and service following at 12:00pm
