He departed this world after a valiant battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and an admirable dedication to his family and community.
Ron was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where he attended local schools before his pursuit of higher education led him to the Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana where he studied engineering. There, he not only honed his intellectual prowess but also laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to learning and excellence. After completing his studies, Ron answered the call of duty and served his country in the Army from 1955 to 1957 in South Korea. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and a deep appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy, values he carried with him throughout his life.
Upon his honorable discharge, Ron embarked on a successful career as a Real Estate Broker and builder. His keen eye for detail, his ability to see potential where others saw none, and his tireless work ethic made him a respected figure in the real estate community. Ron's professional achievements were only surpassed by the personal joy he found in transforming houses into homes for countless families, a testament to his belief in the importance of shelter and comfort for all.
Family was the cornerstone of Ron's life. He was a loving father to his three sons, Ronald, Richard, and Robert Mitchell, and took immense pride in their accomplishments. As a grandfather of three and a great-grandfather of one. Ron's role as a cherished brother to Marilyn (the late Ed) Sullivan and Janet (Steve) Weeber, and as a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews, further exemplified his generous spirit and his commitment to familial bonds.
Those who knew Ron will remember him for his unwavering optimism. No matter the challenge, he faced it with a positive outlook and a belief that everything would work out for the best. His ability to fix just about anything earned him the title of the family handyman, a role he took on with pride and a tool belt always at the ready.
