Ronald Borucki

Ronald Roman Borucki, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, due to complications from advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was born August 14, 1934, and grew up in Chicago and Deerfield, IL. He demonstrated exceptional aptitude in art while in high school, and while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, was stationed in Germany where a series of art classes profoundly influenced his artistic skill and vision, as well as his world-view and character. He often told stories about his experiences in Europe throughout the rest of his life. A few years after returning Stateside, Ron met and married his wife in July of 1961; she remained his bride for over five decades. Ron was an exceptionally devoted husband, father, grandfather, and recently (to his delight) great-grandfather, as well as a respected businessman. He became known as "Uncle Ron" when his sister's first child was born; that became his moniker, both personally and professionally, for the rest of his life. Even his grandkids were prone to calling him, "Uncle Grandpa"! A strong proponent of education, Ron had significant interests in history and the arts. He was an accomplished artist, himself, both in sketching and also in painting pictures, first using oils, and later, watercolors. One of his oil paintings was a portrait of Pope John Paul II which became part of the Vatican archives. In his later years, he was inspired to create a prolific series of watercolor studies in shape and color; recently he began exploring a new medium: water-based oil paints. He was an avid lover of art, opera, gardening, and nature. He passionately urged those he knew to be sure to get out and vote, because it is essential to this country's well-being. Ron passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Frieda; his beloved wife, Anne; three children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren lost to miscarriages; and his sister, Jacqueline. He is survived by his daughters, Jeannette and Lynda; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; one great-grandchild; several in-laws; 13 nieces and nephews and their families; and a number of dear, close friends. His deep and abiding faith in God, courage, humility, strength, generosity, and senses of humor and mischief will be deeply missed.
