Robin Theresa Olmsted, age 25, passed away on October 14, 2022.

 

Robin was born January 16, 1997 in Cary, IL to Chere and Mark Olmsted.

She graduated from Cary-Grove High School in 2015, where she was a leader and integral member in numerous choir and band ensembles including jazz choir, a capella choir, and jazz band. She was an elected drum major of the Cary-Grove Marching Band, and she went on to participate in the Big Red Marching Machine at Illinois State University, where she studied radio communication and music education. Robin was a passionate, lifelong musician who could play almost any instrument she picked up; throughout school, she was an excellent trumpet player, and she also excelled at singing and songwriting. She performed in several local bands over the years, including Revanue, Reject My Reality, and Favorite Record. She was also a multi-talented artist, who loved to fill the pages of a sketchbook with beautiful illustrations. In the small amount of free time leftover, she enjoyed riding her longboard, going to concerts, and spending time with her loved ones.

 

Robin will be remembered by her friends and family for her incredible kindness, perseverance, and for the laughter and light that she brought to life. She loved to share her humor and her joy with the world. She was a role model for so many of her peers and an unyielding pillar of support for anyone in need. She is gone far too soon, but she leaves behind many who are better for having known her. 

 

She is preceded in death by her great-grandma, Theresa Allen. She is grieved by her mother, Chere Olmsted; father, Mark Olmsted (Megan Kolpek); sister, Tyler Olmsted; grandparents, Barbara and Dan Palenske; uncles, Dan Palenske, Ed Kuhner; aunt, Jennifer Kuhner; cousins, Anna, Henry, and Sam Kuhner. 

 

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 1:00-3:30pm, with a Memorial Service at 3:30 PM, at Kahle Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cary-Grove Bands may be made online at carygrove.ludus.com/fundraiser.php?id=1061
