Robert Andrews Obituary

Robert J. Andrews, age 91 of Cary, died on June 8, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. Bob was born in Spring Valley, Illinois, to the late Daniel and Mary (Cassidy) Andrews. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as an accounting supervisor and in 1955 married the love of his life, Peggy Duffy. Later they moved from Chicago to Cary, a town he loved dearly.

Bob was a true servant; he was generous, selfless, thoughtful, and genuinely devoted to his wife and family. He was gifted with a tremendous heart for the poor, especially by serving for many years at McHenry County PADS and The Port in downtown Chicago. Bob was a long-time and extremely active member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and served on the SSPP School Board, Cursillo, Religious Education, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Peace and Justice Committee, to name a few. Bob was also active in the community by coaching Little League and serving as Village Treasurer.

Wherever Bob served, he made a tremendous difference. He will be greatly missed, yet the impact he made will live on.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Peggy; four children: Theresa (Mike) Polyack; Eileen (Chuck) Agnew; Mary (Richard) Ring; daughter-in-law Bea Andrews (son, Mark, who preceded him in death); fourteen grandchildren: Kathryn, Elizabeth, Dan, Andrew, Mary, Annie, Spencer, John, Caitlin, Becca, Rachel, Tim, Maggie, and Katie; eleven great grandchildren; three siblings: Jack (Marilyn) Andrews; Mary (Jim) Devereaux; and Margaret (the late Herb) Gary; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Cary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 11, at Saints Peter and Paul, Cary.

In keeping with Bob’s heart for the poor, memorial gifts may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or Madonna Renewal Center for Unwed Mothers, Freeport. Masses offered for Bob at Saints Peter and Paul would be appreciated.
