Richard Vernon Clemment (92), of Cary, Illinois was born on September 29, 1931 to Clarence and Nora Clemment of Westby, Wisconsin.  He died peacefully on August 13, 2024.
He married the love of his life, Margaret (Schramm) of Chicago, in 1954.  They raised 4 children in a 3-flat they owned in Chicago. Margie and Richard spent 61 happy and loving years together until her passing in 2015.
Richard and Margie were preceded in death by their beautiful daughter, Marcia, in 2004.  Richard is survived by their other children:  Diane (Ed), Ronald (Linda) and Robert (Denise).  He was a role model to his 9 grandchildren:  Andrew, Elizabeth (Richard), Julie (Chris), Amy, Jake, Kevin, Renee, Matthew and Michelle.
Richard is survived by his brother, David (late Rachel).  He was preceded in death by 3 other siblings:  Celia (late Tim), Gordon (Carol) and Virgil (Dorothy).
Richard proudly served in active duty as Sergeant during the Korean War from 1952-1954.  He was a member of the 25th Division, 35th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Item Company.  He earned the following awards:  Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Ribbon, 2 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal and a United Nations Service Medal.
Richard was a retired Cement Finisher of Chicago Local 502.
Richard and Margie enjoyed travelling, especially cruising.  Richard was an avid reader of history.
He was a perfect gentleman and always humble, with a caring demeanor.
He will be missed so much, by so many—but he’s surely sitting around the kitchen table right now with Margie and Marcia sipping hot coffee and sharing a coffee cake.
