Michael E. Rogers passed away peacefully on May 21st, 2026, at his home in Cary, IL. Born in Peoria, IL on October 25, 1937, Michael's life was a tapestry woven with devotion to his family, a passion for learning, and a commitment to his community.

Michael graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After a few stints at various companies, Michael began a long tenure working for A.G. Edwards & Sons for over 30 years.

While in college, a group of friends set him up on a blind date with Bonnie Robar who would go on to become his wife, best friend, and travel partner. They were married 64 years before Bonnie’s passing in 2024.

Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, They raised a family that included their children, Michael Jr. (Missy) Rogers, Kathleen (Stephen) Barrett, and the late Mark Rogers. Michael's role as a father and provider was one of his greatest accomplishments, and he approached it with the same dedication and care that he did in all aspects of his life.

His love extended beyond his immediate family to his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Dillon, and Grace Barrett. Michael loved being able to spend time with them, having them help in his garden, taking them to the movies, and traveling with them.

Michael's legacy is also marked by he and Bonnie’s contributions to the Chicago Marriage Encounter, where they served as past leaders. Through their involvement, they touched the lives of many couples, guiding them toward stronger, more fulfilling relationships.

Throughout his life, Michael embraced a variety of interests with enthusiasm. He had a green thumb, finding peace and joy in the tranquility of his garden. His hands were rarely still, he was an avid wood craftsman and loved to create things for his loved ones. His love for travel took him on many adventures, but he found the greatest pleasure in the simple moments spent with his grandchildren.

Michael was the epitome of kindness, his intelligence was a guiding light, and his loving nature was felt by all who knew him. He had a gift for making each person feel valued and heard, a testament to the depth of his empathy and understanding.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (nee Robar), son Mark; his parents, Dr. Eugene J. and Eunice (nee Buckley) Rogers; sister Ruth Ann Munch. These losses were felt deeply, Michael’s ability to bring joy to every room never dimmed.

Michael D. Rogers lived a life rich in love and service, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
