Michael Paul Nirva Obituary

It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Michael Paul Nirva. The world lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He unexpectedly left this world on November 30, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born on March 6, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Leo and Elaine Nirva. He grew up in Arlington Heights, IL and graduated from John Hersey High School in 1977. He retired in 2016 from Bill Stasek Chevrolet after a successful 40-year career as an ASE Master Tech and Service Manager.

Mike was a devoted husband to Janice Lilian (Plunkett) Nirva, whom he married in 1989 in Long Grove, IL. Together, they raised four children: Sandra M. Nirva (Ryan Dunlap), Ryan S. Nirva (Karla D. Tapia-Nirva), Samantha K. (Kris) Pappert, and Austin E. Nirva (Bridget Monsen-Nirva). He was also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren, Isabel, Katalina and Noah’Lee.

Mike was his children's personal sideline coach and #1 sports fan always encouraging hard work and dedication. When his sons were younger he coached the Junior Trojans and Jr.Wolves Football organizations. Mike was also a Den Leader for Cub Scouts and Troop Leader for Boy Scouts.

Mike enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with friends and family at Camp Nirva, the family's property in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than seeing his loved ones enjoy themselves around the campfire, shooting guns, or going for ATVs riding through his woods. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan, and loved to talk smack about those Packer-Wackers. Mike loved his family immensely. He was so proud of his children and loved to boast about their achievements and milestones. Mike also adored his grandchildren and cherished his time with them.

Mike will be remembered for his storytelling, wood-working, sense of humor, sarcasm,   his dedication to his family, and his enjoyment for helping others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including his surviving mother Elaine Nirva, and sister Cheryl (Paul) Smith.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, his sister, Kathy Lorden, and family dog Oreo.
