Michael A. Clawson, 76, of Pell Lake, WI passed away on August 5, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in Mt. Pleasant, IA on December 10, 1946 to Helen (Johnson) and Ralph Clawson. He graduated from Burlington High School and South Eastern Iowa Community College in Burlington, IA before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1967 as an Electronics Technician.
Mike married Patricia A. Fisher on February 22, 1969 in Burlington, IA. Together, they had 2 children, Sandra and Jennifer. Mike served in the Vietnam War. His service took him to Hawaii, to the USS Higbee DD-806 out of Long Beach, CA, and to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center as an instructor until April 1977. After working many years in the health industry with ultrasound equipment, he retired from GE Medical Systems.
Mike’s hobbies and enjoyments included family, their dogs, trips to Hawaii, camping, and woodworking.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pat; daughters Sandra (Mark) Snavely and Jennifer (Karl) Skaathun; grandchildren Melissa (Snavely) and Ian Marquez, Michael Snavely, Marius Skaathun, Jack Skaathun, and Mathew Snavely; great-grandchild Isaac Marquez. He is also survived by his brother Dennis (Cheryl) Clawson and sister-in-law Nancy Dvorsky. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce Clawson, and sister-in-law Lynn Huss.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am and concluding with a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm, on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home in Cary, IL. Burial with military honors will take place at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, IL after the funeral service.
