Mary R. Kehoe, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, at the age of 91, on July 19, 2025, in Cary, Illinois. Born on October 2, 1933 in the Bronx, New York, Mary was the eldest of nine children of John Joseph Rooney and Catherine Vaughan. She proudly graduated from Cathedral High School in Midtown Manhattan in 1951, where she also worked at the famed Macy’s on 34th Street.

In 1955, Mary married Thomas Kehoe, and they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until Thomas’s passing in 2015. Together, they built a vibrant family life that began in the Bronx and later continued in Long Island, NY. In the early 1970's, the family of six made a big move to the Chicago suburb of Lincolnshire, where they enjoyed 20 years of making memories and fostering a close-knit community. In 1990, Mary and Tom retired to Sarasota, Florida, where she embraced the warm weather, enjoyed golfing, sang with the Meadows Choir, and hustled weekly bridge games, embracing the social community for 28 memorable years.

Mary was known for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of singing and dancing, and her insatiable appetite for reading. She had a remarkable ability to light up a room and bring joy to those around her. Her family was of utmost importance to her, and she took great pride in her six children: Thomas (deceased), Julianne (deceased), Therese (deceased), Michael, Maribeth Lee (John), and John. Additionally, Mary is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Jason, Ryan, Kaylie, Aidan, Cullen, and Jack, all of whom she adored deeply.

Mary’s legacy will live on through the cherished memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am, Monday, August 4, 2025 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 North First Street, Cary, IL 60013. Family and friends are invited to share memories and honor her legacy.
