Mary Jane (Wilson) Bohan Obituary

Mary Jane Bohan, a beacon of joy and laughter even in the face of adversity, has completed her final curtain call on this stage of life on August 9, 2024. Born in the breezy city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on January 5, 1935, Mary – as she preferred to be called – embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and the occasional misadventure that only she could turn into a cherished memory.

A 20-year survivor of breast cancer, Mary faced life's toughest battles with a smile and a joke, never letting the 'carcinoma of unknown origin' dampen her spirits or her love for a good punchline. She would often quip that her cells were just as confused about their origin as she was about modern technology, but boy, did they both know how to put up a good fight!

Mary was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Eugene Sr., and her dear son, Daniel. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her children: Eugene Jr. (Iris), Judy (Jeff), Kathy (Bryan), Patrick, and Cherie Bohan, Daniel's wife. Along with a lineup of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her greatest audience. Jared,  Jonathan (Meg), Gabrielle (Alex), Kaitlynn (Ricky), Michael (Natalie), Amanda (Cody), John (Krysta), and Alec, all learned the art of storytelling from their grandma. And the great-grandchildren, Jack, Bryson, and Maverick, were her most captive crowd, often found giggling at her animated tales. Even her loyal dog Sara, of 9 years, seemed to hang on her every word, especially if it was "treat."

Mary spent 20 illustrious years at the Midwest Center for Women's Healthcare, where she was not just an employee but the cherished 'office Mom' to all. She was the unofficial keeper of secrets, the dispenser of sage advice, and the purveyor of the best darn birthday cakes this side of the Mississippi.

If one were to describe Mary in a few words, they would be: loving, courageous, and faith-filled. Her optimism was her superpower, her humor her shield, and her faith the compass that guided her through every storm.

Mary's life was a masterclass in finding joy in the mundane, courage in the face of uncertainty, and laughter in every corner. As we bid her farewell, let's not say goodbye but rather, "Until we meet again." For in our hearts and memories, Mary Jane Bohan's legacy of love and laughter will forever play on.
