Martin McAuley, 91, passed away on Friday, April 1 from complications of a stroke. Martin is a former resident of Cary, Grayslake and Palatine, Illinois.
Martin was born in Dumfries, Scotland to Patlrick and Eva McAuley. He moved to the United States at 16 and attended Red Bank High School in Keansburg, New Jersey.
He moved to New York City and became successful as an international banker.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Cub Scout Master for his son 's troop. He enjoyed spending time with family and summers in Rockaway Beach. Martin was an avid gardener and always produced a great tomato crop.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McAuley and his survived by his children Kevin McAuley and Joan Wetterman who will miss him greatly. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Caitlin and Jason McAuley and Christopher and Sean Wetterman. He was also blessed by 6 great grandchildren, Liam and Elliette Wetterman from Sean and Audrey Wetterman and Samantha, Olivia, Ryan and Jamie Wetterman from Christopher and Amanda Wetterman.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate his life at a local chapel.
