Lester James Ballerine Obituary

 

Lester J. Ballerine of Cary, IL passed away peacefully on July10th after a long illness.  Les was born in Ladd, IL Dec 13th 1932. He was the youngest of four children of Lester and Matilda Ballerine.   He is preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Francis and sister, Doris Cofoid.  He is survived by his wife Marian, daughter Jennie Kroger, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Renee Ballerine.  As well as his four grandchildren, Anna, Christa, Grace and Ben and 2 great grandchildren.  


He was an avid Chicago sports fan of the Cubs, Bulls and especially the Bears.  He was a Bears season ticket holder and had traveled to New Orleans and experienced their Super Bowl win.


Les graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL and Illinois Valley Jr. College in LaSalle, Illinois.  


He had a successful career in the Savings and Loan Industry.  In retirement he spent summers at his beloved cabin in the Colorado Rockies. 


Locally he was a Jr. Trojan and Cary Youth Baseball coach.  Also, a basketball coach and athletic director at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School.   He was an equity member of the Cary Country Club and served as treasurer on the C.C.C board of directors.  He also served time on the zoning board of the Village of Cary.  


He will be dearly missed by family and friends and especially by his dog Posie, who was his constant companion. Memorials in Lester's name would be appreciated to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
