Kent Eson Berglund

Kent Eson Berglund, 79, passed away peacefully February 20, 2023, in Barrington, Illinois.   

Born June 20, 1943, in Chicago he is the son of Ewald Berglund from Chicago and Eva Bjorkman from Sweden. Kent was preceded in death by his parents and his son Kent Berglund Jr.   

Kent is survived by his sister Carol Kinder, wife Carolyn Tillack, daughter Kristen (Tedd) Lister, daughter Kim Berglund, stepdaughter Susan (Joel) Ehlers, stepson Stephen (Rhoda) Tillack, stepson Scott (Tasha) Tillack, niece Kristina (Joe) Hurst and his 8 grandchildren: Rachel Ehlers, Allyson Ehlers, Julia Tillack, Matthew Tillack, Christopher Tillack, Laura Tillack, Jonathon Tillack and Sarah Tillack. 

Kent had a PHD in Psychology from Indiana University and was a retired Psychologist from the Veterans Administration and Department of Labor.  He was a lifelong fan of planes, and he spent his retirement years tinkering around with electronic gadgets in his “ham shack”, spending countless hours on his ham radio, flying his virtual planes and building Morse Code machines and microcomputers.  Kent was an intellect and enjoyed keeping his mind engaged in these various hobbies and he loved the process of communicating with his ham radio colleagues across the globe.  He was also teaching himself Greek and Hebrew in the last 6 months and was very interested in stellar spectroscopy. 

He was a kind man, and any smile on his face was always genuine.  He was a very positive person and had a great attitude. And he always looked forward to the holiday meals when all of the grandkids were in town.   

Kent’s wishes were to be cremated.  Memorial visitation will be held on Monday February 27, 2023 at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary beginning at 10:00 am and concluding with a Memorial Service at 11:30am. A celebration of life luncheon will follow.   

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Kent’s name to: The American Cancer Society (American Cancer Society) or the Church of the Great Shepherd (Wheaton, IL)
