Kathleen Dalton Turner Obituary

Kathleen Dalton Turner, affectionately known as Kathy to her friends and family, passed away at the age of 79 on July 15, 2024, in Rockford, IL, due to complications from a heart attack. Born on March 11, 1945, in Kansas City, MO, Kathy's warmth and vivacious spirit were evident from an early age.

Kathy pursued higher education at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO where she met Phil Turner, who would be her husband of 39 years. They eventually settled down in Cary, IL to raise a family and begin her career in community service and education. She worked for several years at the Barrington Park District, returning to the place where she had worked as a lifeguard in high school. She also found fulfillment working as a substitute teacher, sharing her knowledge and compassion with countless students.

After Phil’s passing in 2007, Kathy found rewarding work as a Vision Therapist at Behavioral Vision in Crystal Lake. Her work with children grew from “just” a job to a passion. She had a unique ability to connect with her young clients, guiding them with patience and understanding until her passing.
Kathy's interests were a reflection of her nurturing and joyful nature. She was an avid yoga enthusiast, which not only kept her physically active but also provided a sense of peace and balance in her life. She loved her art classes, crossword puzzles, and keeping in touch with her extended family and old friends. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her routine long walks with her beloved dog, Tucker.
Above all, Kathy cherished her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she devoted herself to creating lasting memories with them. Her funny, thoughtful, and optimistic personality made her the cornerstone of her family. Her nature was always humorous, her advice was always no-nonsense, and she was always there to support her family.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. She will be remembered for her ability to see the good in every situation and her unwavering positivity. Her impact on the lives of those she worked with, especially the children at Behavioral Vision, will be felt for generations to come.
Kathy was proceeded in death by her husband Phil and is survived by her sister Phyllis (Robin) Needham, children Jason (Kristy) Turner and Alissa (Bob) Kaspari, and grandchildren Madeline & Kellan Turner and Bryce & Brayden Kaspari, step grandchildren Ryan & Alex Brown, nieces Carrie (Brett) Zagzebski and Rebecca (Tim) Naish, nephews Bob (Robyn), Richard (Kristy), and Randy (Carmen) Horner, many extended family members, and her faithful furry companion Tucker.
It was Kathy’s wish not to have a funeral or memorial service, but we hope instead you can help us celebrate her life by exemplifying how she led hers; with a kind disposition, a carefree, pleasant nature, and the ability to laugh at (and wave off) anything that life throws your way…
