Judith A. Sersen, a lifelong Park Ridge resident born on May 16, 1933, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, February 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Howard H. Sersen; her parents, Mabel (Sealock) and Fred A. Nelson; and her sister, Adele (Jerry) Hedberg.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Mark (Karen Ann) Sersen, Diane (Walter) Krause, Karen (Richard) Skadow, and Amy (John) Gibbons; her niece and nephew, Gail Hedberg and Jim Hedberg; her grandchildren, Laura Krause, Casey (Trevor) Fritz, Kelly (Jack) Peters, Brooklyn Sersen, Ryan Gibbons and Holland Sersen; and her great-grandchild, Teagan Fritz.

Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose love and kindness touched everyone around her. She accepted and encouraged everyone, embracing people with an open heart. She understood each of her children, oftentimes even better than they knew themselves. Her wisdom and understanding will be greatly missed.

As her children grew and married, she joyfully welcomed all the new additions into the family, treating them with the same warmth and love she gave to her children. She encouraged all around her to choose their own path and to live life to the fullest. She greatly enjoyed hearing about the adventures and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, taking pride in their journeys and celebrating their successes.

She was a talented sewer and an avid quilter, and who created many types of clothing for her children and others. She was an excellent cook, loved to listen to classical music, a ferocious reader, and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

She cherished time with her family and friends, and her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL. A memorial service will follow at 12:30.
