Joyce Elaine Koss, nee Geske, age 77, of Crystal Lake, passed away August 19, 2024 after a difficult battle with cancer at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington. She was born September 4, 1946 in Elgin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Geske.
Joyce married “the kindest man she ever knew”, James Koss, February 10, 1968 in Crystal Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Joyce worked for Continental Airlines early in her career, then many years at Amtrak. Long time residents of Fox River Grove, after the death of her husband Jim in 2012, she moved to Crystal Lake where she fell among many social groups, playing cards, dominoes, and bowling. When not traveling to different places and countries of interest, Joyce volunteered her time for many years at the Cary-Grove Food pantry and Catch Penny Resale Shop in Barrington. Loved by so very many, she will be dearly missed.
A celebration of her life and memorial will be held September 13 at Cary United Methodist Church, 500 First Street, at 11:00 AM. Joyce will be laid to rest at Windridge Memorial Park in a private family graveside service. Memorials would be appreciated to Cary United Methodist Church in Joyce's name.
