Josef Unterreiner Obituary

Josef Unterreiner, a cherished patriarch, skilled bricklayer, and a man of unwavering faith, passed away on October 26, 2024, at his home in Fox River Grove, Illinois. Born on August 23, 1929, in the small town of Tenje, Yugoslavia, Joe's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.

Joe's journey brought him to the United States in 1956, where he established his home that he lived in for 68 years. He built a life that reflected his enduring strength and resilience. His hands, skilled in the craft of bricklaying, laid the foundations for countless structures, each a symbol of his dedication to his trade.

In his personal life, Joe was a loving husband to his late wife Anna Unterreiner. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling in their children the values of hard work and the importance of family bonds. Joe is survived by his devoted children, Helga (Don) King, Herta (Stephen) Stephens, Anne Magliari, Frank Unterreiner, and Christine (Scott) Zauhar. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Corrie Fox, Heather Umphlett, Dawn Liddick, Wesley Stephens, Hope Stephens, Neil Stephens, Anthony Magliari, Joseph Magliari, Jennifer Breunig, Michelle Parr and Rachel Jackson, who will remember him as a pillar of strength and love in their lives. He has also been blessed with many great grandchildren: Renner and Hannah Fox; Alexander Syron-Stephens; Anna Magliari; Miles and Clark Magliari; Von and Jon Breunig; Brooklynn Parr; Noelle, Desmond and Kennedy Jackson.

An avid gardener, Joe found solace and joy in the earth's bounty. His garden was a source of pride and a place of tranquility, where he cultivated not only produce but also a sense of peace and connection to nature. Friends and family knew him as handy, always able to fix anything that needed repair. His practical skills were matched only by his kind heart and willingness to help others.

As we say goodbye to Josef Unterreiner, his memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
