JoAnne Castelli Wallis Danley, of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 in Harvard, IL at the age of 90. Born on April 24, 1935 in Sandwich, IL, she was the cherished daughter of Stella Beardsley Castelli and James Delnor Castelli, and loving sister to brother, James Delnor II, born several years later.

The Castelli family lived in Sheridan, IL, surrounded by the large maternal Beardsley family. JoAnne's life was a testament to love, service and family. Her journey into healthcare was inspired by her mother, Stella's, dream. She moved to Chicago and fulfilled that dream by becoming a registered nurse. Her compassionate spirit and nurturing presence led her to a rewarding career as a pediatric nurse at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL, where she lived and formed lifelong friendships with fellow nurses.

Life's adventures took JoAnne and her beloved husband, Charles William Wallis, whom she married in 1957, to upstate New York, where they expanded their family before returning to the Chicagoland area and finally settling in Cary, IL. JoAnne and Chuck were blessed with four wonderful children: Lynda, Edward (married to Jane), Tracey, and Gregory. The Wallis home was always filled with love and laughter, and JoAnne's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply.

In Cary, JoAnne continued her nursing career, eventually becoming the Director of Nursing at Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake, IL. Her dedication to her profession was evident in every aspect of her work and she took great pride in her position. Later, she joined Dr. Kenneth Park's Family Practice in Cary, IL, as part of a small team committed to delivering compassionate family care.

JoAnne's life was marked by her active involvement in her community, particularly with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a guiding light for many young lives, sharing her wisdom and nurturing spirit.

After the sudden loss of her husband, Chuck, in 1990, JoAnne's heart was once again filled with love when she married Jack M. Danley in 1998. Together, they blended their families, welcoming Jack's four sons, Michael (Katherine), Timothy (Bonnie), William (Jackie), and John (Wendy), into their lives. JoAnne's marriage to Jack brought her not only a partner but an expanded family that included 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was a beloved matriarch whose legacy continues through Tyler, Willow, David (Lauren), Michael, Keenan, Max, Rachel, Mason, Jared, Caleb, Thomas, Amanda (Nick), Wyatt, Mitchell, Clara and Jessica, as well as her great-grandchildren Luca, Liam and Lemmy.

A Catholic, JoAnne's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She and Chuck found deep meaning and purpose in their involvement with Marriage Encounter, where they served as leaders and facilitators, helping other couples to strengthen their bonds. Their work with Marriage Encounter was a reflection of their commitment to love and faith, and they traveled often to lead weekends and support others on their journeys.

JoAnne's life was rich with experiences, love and service. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her nurturing heart and her dedication to her family and community. JoAnne leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

JoAnne is preceded in death by her parents, Stella and James Castelli, her first husband, Charles Wallis, and her second husband, Jack Danley. JoAnne's light will forever shine in the hearts of her family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00pm until funeral service at 7:00pm, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL 60013.

Interment will be private.
