Janet Blanco Obituary

Janet K. Blanco, age 73, of Cary, passed away December 28, 2020 at Good Shepherd Hospital.

Janet was born on July 29, 1947, in Decatur, to Edward and Norma Jean (Desback) Neuendorf.

Janet was a 1965 graduate of Glenbard East High School. She received a Bachelor’s of Education from Western Illinois University in 1969. After graduating, she loved teaching first grade before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Janet was an avid reader and beach lover.  Her favorite thing to do was bask in the sun while listening to the waves crash and reading for hours. Janet’s love of the beach life led her to be a dedicated Jimmy Buffett fan.  She went to his concerts for over 20 years and loved the easy-going, fun-filled crowds and lifestyle.  She would light up while singing his songs, enjoying a margarita or Miller Lite. “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere”!

Janet was a loving and dedicated mother. She treasured her children and cherished every moment with them. She loved to hang out and shop with her daughter Jenny and loved to hear her son Andy play the saxophone.

Survivors include son Andrew (Joelle) Blanco of Palatine and daughter Jennifer (Tim) Blanco-Paholke of Cary. She was the most loving nana and adored her grandchildren, Max Blanco and Timmy, Kacie, and Kami Paholke. She was a dear sister (“DeeDee”) who leaves behind her brother Tom (Kathy) Neuendorf, as well as a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Janet also leaves behind her two four-legged companions, Emma and Ellie, who were the light of her life, as well as her special lifelong friend, Peg Murphy.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Norma Jean (Dresback) Neuendorf.

Janet has requested a private memorial service for immediate family. A larger Celebration of Life will be held over the summer so we can enjoy the sunshine that she loved so much.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or Mote Marine Aquarium and Laboratory (Sarasota, FL).
