Janet Lois Bentz Obituary

Janet Lois Bentz, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 86 in Algonquin, IL, due to natural causes. Born on August 15, 1938, in Chicago, IL, Janet's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the joy found in simple pleasures.

A lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity, Janet filled her home with books of all kinds, from old medical texts to encyclopedias found at yard sales. Her love for knowledge was only matched by her love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Clara, and her loving little sister, Karen Boling.

Janet's legacy is carried on by her devoted children: Karen Strobel, Art Bentz, Linda Diehl (Cory), Jim Bentz, Kim Camardelle (Jerry), and Bob Bentz (Marie). Her warmth and lessons will live on through her thirteen grandchildren: Melissa, Laura, Jim, John, Jaimie, Candace, Joey, Roberta, Katelyn, Patrick, Sammie, Ally, and Jerry, as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Kaylynn, Eric, Emma, Lucas, Reagan, Cal, Elly, and Cameron. As well as a special thanks to his nurse from Advocate, Christina.

In her early years, Janet's voice connected countless individuals as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and a switchboard operator at various hotels. She later transitioned to working in different factories, but it was her role as a cook in a nursing home that she cherished the most. Janet's cooking brought comfort and joy to both residents and staff, earning her widespread love and appreciation for her culinary talents.

Janet's passion for cooking extended to her personal life, where she relished the opportunity to prepare meals for large gatherings. Her lasagna was legendary, and she took great pleasure in making it for her loved ones. Family was the cornerstone of Janet's life; she found immense joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in sports. From wrestling to baseball, MMA fighting and even soccer—though not her favorite—she supported them all with unwavering enthusiasm.

A loving, kind, and courageous woman, Janet's presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those who knew her.

Janet's life is a beautiful reminder of the profound impact one person can have through simple acts of love and the nurturing of family bonds. Her strength, coupled with her gentle spirit, will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she has departed from this world, the love she shared will continue to ripple through the generations.

As we bid farewell to Janet Lois Bentz, we celebrate the life of a woman who was the embodiment of love in action. Her legacy of kindness, courage, and unwavering support for her family will never be forgotten.
