James Smith Obituary

James Bernhard Smith “Jim”, 94 years old of Fox River Grove, IL passed away November 3, 2020.  He was born May 5, 1926 in Riverton Township, Minnesota to James and Lucy Smith.  He was a Korean War Army Sergeant Veteran, before getting his Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota.  He worked 48 years for Honeywell, starting as a stocker in the packaging department and retiring as a senior manager of the EDP department.  He celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage with Delores.  Jim’s legacy lives on through his loving wife Delores and his 5 beloved children: Terry (Laurie) Gruener, Sharon (Robert) Newren, Sandra (Brian) Stange, Jeff Smith and Peggy Osborne; his 13 cherished grandchildren and 15 precious great grandchildren; and his brother Raymond (Eris) Smith.  Jim loved sharing family experiences at their home in Fox River Grove, their summer get away in Milton, Wisconsin, and their snowbird home in Chandler, Arizona. Jim was a dedicated, caring, loving and honest man.  Not only was he dedicated to his career and family he was very handy.  He could fix or build almost anything. He loved watching football, to talk computers and was patriotic for our country.  Jim was a religious man who genuinely loved his family and was so proud of each and every one of them. He is a blessing to all who have known him.  May he rest in peace in heaven with his mother, father, sister Virginia, and brother George.
