James M. Coté Obituary
James “Jim” M. Coté, age 72, of Woodstock, IL, passed away on March 7, 2026. He was born November 25, 1953 in Oak Park, IL to his loving parents, Jim and Eleanore (née Morris) Coté.
Jim graduated from Marian Central High School and spent most of his life in McHenry County, where he built many lasting friendships and connections.
He especially enjoyed spending quiet time in nature. Fishing and photography were among his favorite pastimes, allowing him to capture and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Jim also cherished time spent with family and friends. Proud of his Irish heritage, he looked forward each year to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Jim will be remembered as an easy-going man with a warm smile, a devoted brother, and a loyal friend to those fortunate enough to share in his life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who supported Jim throughout his life. Your kindness and friendship were treasures to him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy (Tony) Cosentino, Judy (Terry) Phelps, Kathy (Mike) Boyce, Joanne (the late Jim) Carlsen, Eleanore (Rich) Bisluk, and Marianne Embrey; his brother, Tom (Lisa) Coté; and by his good friend, Brian Miller. He is the fond uncle of 16 nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. First Street, Cary, IL 60013.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name would be appreciated to the Woodstock VFW.
