James Michael Barra

      James M. Barra, age 73 of Port Barrington, passed away September 21, 2021 at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago.  He was born May 27, 1948 in Chicago, the son of Harold and Lenora Barra.

       Jim is survived by his wife Cathy L. (Fierla) Barra whom he married May 13, 1977 in Cary.  He is also survived by his children:  Jason J. Barra and Joseph E. (Lorena) Barra as well as his grandchildren:  Ariana Barra and Jameson Barra.

       Jim retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 yrs. as a letter carrier in Barrington. After retirement Jim was employed by Cary School District 26 as a bus aide and recess supervisor at Cary Junior High.  Jim was active in Cary Youth Baseball and the Cary Soccer Ass. serving in capacities as a member of the board of directors and coaching.  He also coached in the Cary-Grove baseball travel league.  

       There will be a visitation for Jim on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Cary.  Funeral Mass Monday Sept. 27th at 10:30 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cary.  Burial will follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, IL.  In lieu of flowers Mass intentions would be appreciated.
