Henry Gene Schintgen, age 72, of Cary, IL, passed away on January 25, 2026. He was born May 4, 1953 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Henry and Leone (née Baker) Schintgen.

Henry graduated from Cary Grove High School, Class of 1972, and worked as an industrial bricklayer.

Henry had a natural gift for connecting with people—he loved to meet new faces, share stories, and make others feel welcome. Whether on the dance floor, where he moved with effortless rhythm, or around the dinner table with family, he brought joy and energy to every gathering.

A devoted son, Henry cherished taking his mother out to dinner, creating memories that the family still holds dear. As a grandfather, he was actively involved in the lives of his grandsons, especially when it came to decorating the Christmas tree—a tradition he loved and proudly continued each year. Picking out a real tree was part of the magic, just as it had been when he was young.

An avid bow hunter and outdoorsman, Henry found peace and purpose in nature. He also enjoyed heading north to snow ski and reconnect with family and friends “back in the day”—moments that remained special to him throughout his life.

Henry had a wide and loving circle of cousins and friends, many of whom were like family to him. Their bond was deep, and the loss of his vibrant presence will be felt by each of them.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rita Schintgen and Darlene; and brother, Robert Schintgen. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Hunt; sisters, Janice Meyer and Lydia Schintgen; grandchildren, Hunter Hunt and Jaxon Hunt; and many extended relatives.

Interment will be private.
