Harriet Clark Obituary

When you were with Grandma Clark, it felt like you were home. Joan Clark died on February 18th, 2021 at home in Bokeelia, Florida. Born Harriet Joan Beebe on July 26th, 1927 in Adrian, Michigan she was the daughter of Melvin and Margaret Beebe and older sister to Deedie.

She went on to attend Albion College, majoring in art and education. While at Albion, she met Charles Francis Clark (Chuck) and they wed in 1947. Though already married with two children, Joan kept her promise to her father and graduated with her degree. They had four children; Nancy (Robert) Weil, Tom, Randy (Geri) and Jim (Caroline). Along with her sister Deedie and her four children, Joan is survived by her 10 grandchildren; Jeffrey (Sarah) Weil, Michelle (Arnoush) Javaherian, Don (Eileen) Wallace, Wendy Bailey, Erik (Rachael) Clark, Brittany (Scott) Newell, Leif (Aimee) Frydenlund Clark, Lindsay Clark, Charles Clark, David Clark and 17 great-grandchildren. They were married for 52 years until Chuck died in 1999.

Joan’s interests included golf, gardening, baking, traveling with Chuck, spending quality time with their friends and enjoyed being by the beach and out on the ocean. Perhaps more than anything, Joan loved being the matriarch of a wonderful family. She was a natural mother and grandmother who made everyone who entered her home feel special. The Clark’s house in Cary, IL was adorned with family photos, while their basement had a special wall for each of their children’s respective families. Whether it be hosting at Christmas or simply cooking a family dinner, nothing made Joan happier than being with family and friends.

A private burial will be held, with no in-person Memorial Service.
