George W. Lowe Jr., was born on New Year's Eve, 1936, to G. Watson Lowe and Elsie (Wehrmann) Lowe. He was a lifelong Cary resident and a graduate of Cary Grade School, Crystal Lake High School and Roosevelt University. For many years, along with partner, Ralph McMillan, they ran Lowe Oil Co.
George was a SPC5 in the Army stationed at Charleston, South Carolina after completing training at the Army Intelligence School at Ft. Holabird, Maryland. He also had a long history of public service as a member of the McHenry County Board and McHenry County College Board. He was an expert on Robert's Rules of Order and wrote tutorials on its usage.
George had many interests, chiefly airplanes - he obtained a pilot's license in his early twenties. He was a skilled marksman with many trophies to attest his skill. And all the people he encountered and shared meals with at Around the Clock restaurant. Many stories shared!
George left us and his physical pains April 12, while at his computer in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Marion (Shales) Lowe.
