In 1953, George enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with honor and distinction until his discharge in 1961. His interests and hobbies were as rich and varied as his life experiences. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he maintained his love for the game by cheering on his favorite teams, The Green Bay Packers and The Wisconsin Badgers, and by playing golf with a close-knit circle of friends. George lived a healthy life involving running, walking, exercising and eating well. He would walk up to 5 miles each day into his late 80's.
George's love for music led him to cherish the tunes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, often whisking his beloved wife Kelly to dinner and dancing at Supper Clubs, where they swayed to the timeless melodies.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Karole (Kelly), his loving parents who emigrated from Greece, Anastasios (Tom) and Panayota (Toula) Karavakis, and his siblings, Tom Karavakis & Polly Christy and his beloved childhood pet goat Fritz.
