George C. Christensen Obituary

George Christensen was born in Chicago on June 26, 1935 and passed away at home on November 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Elsie Christensen, his sisters, Eleanor (William) Engelhardt and Marie Soby (Andrew, JR) and nephew, David Soby. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 40 7/8 years Penny; his nephews Roger Engelhardt and Ronald Engelhardt (Sue Miller); his nieces Ann Soby, Helen (Mike) Keilman; his great nieces Carolyn (Bruce) Krich and Michelle (Dan) Jordan; his sister-in-law Pat Hummel, nephew Mark Hummel, niece Stephanie Sousa; numerous great, great nieces and nephews, and cousins Wayne (Carolyn) Stewart and Nancy Stewart.

 

He was proud to be a graduate of Crystal Lake High School class of 1953 who still meet once a month for lunch and reminiscing.  

 

George worked in this area his whole life. He was still driving a truck for Lowe Excavating 3 weeks prior to his death where he worked for many years. His wife said, "He was like an institution and he just kept going." You know George if you found zucchini, corn, or other vegetables on your doorstep. That was George.

 

In Lieu of flowers, a donation to the McHenry County Helping Paws Animal Shelter, 2500 Harding Lane, Woodstock IL 60098 would be appreciated

 

Visitation for George will be held on Sunday, 11/06/2022 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Cary.  Funeral Service Monday 11/07 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, burial to follow at Windridge Memorial Park.
