Gary R. Diamond Obituary

Gary R. Diamond, 77, passed away on June 28th, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, musician, car enthusiast, and Chicago Bears fan. Born on January 5th, 1947, in Brookfield, IL, Gary moved with his parents to Cary, IL in 1953. He graduated from Cary Grove High School in 1965 and resided in Cary for 67 years.
Gary graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in computer science and achieved his master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University. Gary's career as a computer analyst with Allstate spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions to the field.
Beyond his professional achievements, music was a significant part of Gary's life. He was a talented drummer, playing in several bands during his younger years, when he eventually met his wife, Donna.
Gary had a love for cars, if you saw him often, you knew he would pull up in something new. In his spare time he would simply drive around in one of his convertibles, always smiling.
As a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, Gary's Sundays were reserved for cheering on his favorite team. He was a longtime season ticket holder and loved attending games at Soldier Field, especially with his daughters.
Gary's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna (nee Wilkins), his children, Megan Denniger (Matt) and Caitlin Diamond-Dikun (Nate) and his three granddaughters (Adelyn, Lillian and Braelyn Denniger). He was a loving and supportive presence in their lives, always willing to drop everything and do whatever job that needed to be done. He was the professional taste tester for every family meal during the holidays. We all knew it was time to eat when Gary would start the line. He loved his family dearly and will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary, IL, from 10AM until 12PM. Memorial service to follow visitation.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Gary's name would be appreciated to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cary.
