Fred was born in Chicago, IL on January 13th, 1939, to Frederick and Helen Libert. They precede him in death along with his sister Chris Lubkeman.
Fred met the love of his life Penny while teaching together at Orchard Street School in Fox River Grove and they married on August 12, 1967. They were married for 55 years. His 35-year career teaching English and History began in FRG with Penny, but he moved to Grant High School in Fox Lake where he found his passion for coaching wrestling. He eventually left Grant to teach and coach in all the high schools within District 300. He had a sincere love for his family, faith, students, and the athletes he coached resulting in many lifetime friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered most for being humble, kind, and hardworking.
He is survived by his wife Penny; his 3 children Bethany Sorg, Frederick and (April) Libert, Steve and (Jill) Libert; 7 grandchildren Shane and Nick Sorg, Thomas and Bradley Libert, Seamus, Fionn and Nevan Libert; His sisters Julie (Jim) Portalski and Cindy (Tom) Quillin and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and mass will be held on Friday, December 30th at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cary, Illinois beginning with visitation at 9am and mass at 10am.
