Floyd A. Brethour, passed away on Friday February 12th, 2021, at Crossroads Care Center in Woodstock, Illinois, at the age of 88.
Floyd was born March 17th, 1932 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Albert George and Frieda (Greif) Brethour.
Floyd met the love of his life, the late Roberta “Bobbie” Spahn through a mutual friend, and they were married March 17th, 1951.
Floyd began his career in the motion picture industry in 1951 working for various film companies until his retirement in 1997.
When he was not home, you could have found him on the course getting in his rounds of golf. His love for the game brought him to bond with his family and friends over 18 holes of fun. If the pool wasn’t calling his name or the sun wasn’t in full force, he enjoyed spending some time at the movie theaters. Everywhere he sat was the VIP section. He was just that awesome.
Floyd is survived by his sons Jerome “Jerry” (Dian) Brethour of Long Island, New York, Gregory “Greg”(Dawn) Brethour of Cary, North Carolina and daughter Susan “Susie” Calabria of Cary, Illinois; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Julio) Martinez, Michael Brethour, Tiffany Budoff, Kacy Brethour, Timothy (Nadia) Budoff, Steven Calabria, Heather (Beau) Blair, and Kevin (Melissa) Calabria; and his great-grandchildren, Max, Sophia, Starr, Olivia, Thomas, Jack, Kate, and Josephine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; his sisters, Dorothy Yocum and Bernice “Bea” (Dwane) Wills, and his sister-in-law, Nancy Brethour. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Brethour.
Floyd will be honored in a private memorial gathering celebrating his life on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021 at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home in Cary, IL.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Research Hospital in his name. He would appreciate that greatly.
Floyd Albert Brethour… May your memory be eternal.
