Evan M. Metcalf-Putnam, 35, of Cary, IL, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020.
He was born September 16, 1985, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Michael and Jennifer. He married Kimberly Hawkins on June 8, 2014.
Evan grew up with his two younger siblings in Iowa. His grandparents’ farm was a fun place to visit and experience true Iowa. He developed a passion for computers at a young age and continued that interest into his education and career. He received his BA in Mathematics and Computer Science at Cornell College, then received his MS in Computer Science at DePaul University. He went on to work his way up to Technical Lead Engineer at Grubhub, previously working at HERE and UBS O’Connor. In addition to work and computers he loved a good challenge. His other interests included chess, finance, entrepreneurship, speech and debate, gaming, and cooking. Above all Evan loved spending time with his family, especially the joy of his life “Little Z.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Kimberly Metcalf-Putnam; his beautiful daughter, Zoey Anne; his adoring parents, Jennifer and Michael; his grandparents, Colleen “Grandma B” Putnam, Philip and Janet Metcalf; sister, Patrice Metcalf-Putnam and her husband Alvin Raj; brother, Max Metcalf-Putnam and his wife Krissy; his parents-in-law Pam and Jack Hawkins, and sister-in-law Julie Hawkins; an uncle and several cousins; and his beloved cat Millie.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Putnam.
