Donna Helene Patterson, age 81, of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away on May 1, 2026. She was born October 10, 1944 in Chicago, IL to her loving parents, Henry and Christine (née Wilhelm) Veller.

Donna built a life centered around connection and hard work. She worked as a secretary and as a bus driver, where her friendly spirit brightened the days of those she met along her routes. She also took pride in being the owner of Backyard Tan, a venture that reflected her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.

She shared 30 loving years of marriage with her husband, Harold, a partnership built on devotion, laughter, and enduring companionship.

Donna found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing Bingo, tending to her garden, dancing, and shopping—but nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with her beloved grandchildren. Her outgoing nature and genuine kindness made her a true “people person,” and she had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Donna will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Harold Patterson; children, Jackie (Jeff) Tessar, Russell Harden, Michael Harden, and Heather (Matthew) Joseph; sister, Linda (Alex) McConnaghy; grandchildren, Amber, Tanya, Ashley, Serena, Michael Jr., Gabrielle, Kennedy, and Matthew; 8 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Travis McConnaghy.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, and 9:30am until funeral service at 10:30am, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL 60013. Pastor Mark Boster will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 S. Rawson Bridge Road, Cary, IL 60013.
