Donald Raymond Hallsten

Don was born December 10, 1947 and went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 3, 2022.  His family is deeply saddened by the loss of this man who meant so much and touched so many people’s lives.

After graduating from Steinmetz High School in Chicago, IL, Don got a job at A.B. Dick Co. in Niles, IL.  In 1968, he married his high school sweetheart Darlene Brzeczek and remained her faithful loving companion until her death on December 11, 2021. Don spent the bulk of his career climbing the corporate ladder at A.B. Dick Co. and led his family from Schiller Park to Woodale and ultimately Hoffman Estates.  Don was active and social, participating in many softball and bowling leagues in his young adult life.  He passed his passion for sports on to his two children, often driving them all over the state of Illinois and beyond as they participated in youth travel league activities.   

Don will be remembered as a persevering and playful family man.  He leaves behind his two sons, Donald R. Hallsten, Jr. and David R. Hallsten, his loving daughter-in-law Tara Hallsten and two grandchildren (Sydney and Ryan), brother Gerald Hallsten and sister-in-law Valerie Hallsten (nee Bolling) and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald and Dorothy Hintze (nee Brzeczek), and a host of loving family and friends.

He joins his loving wife of 53 years, Darlene Hallsten; his parents, Raymond and Frieda Hallsten (nee Brehm); and his brother, Ronald Hallsten. 

Don’s family and friends will miss his love, laughter, and playful personality.
