Dietrich Bronst, affectionately known as Dieter to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 86 in the comfort of his Cary, IL home on the 30th of July, 2024. His final days were spent enveloped in the love and care of his family, a testament to the deep bonds he fostered throughout his life. Dieter was a cherished patriarch, a beacon of resilience and an embodiment of the American dream.
Born on March 12, 1938, in Leunenburg, Germany, Dieter was the son of Otto and Grete Bronst. His early years were marked by the tumult of wartime Europe, and in 1945, at the close of World War II, he became a refugee fleeing East Prussia. His journey of courage and determination led him to the United States in 1959, where he embraced new beginnings and opportunities with open arms. Dieter's commitment to his adopted country shone through his service in the US Army, where he held the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4).
It was during his military service in Germany that Dieter met and married his beloved Birgit, the love of his life. Their union was blessed with the birth of their first child, setting the foundation for a family that would grow and flourish over the years. The young family eventually made their way to California, and later settled in Chicago. Dieter's industrious spirit thrived in the canning industry, where he dedicated two decades of his life.
In 1980, with a vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Dieter embarked on a new adventure, founding Brenco Machine & Tool, Inc. His business acumen and relentless work ethic turned his company into a successful enterprise that he proudly ran for 40 years. Dieter's legacy as a businessman is surpassed only by his legacy as a family man.
Preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Birgit, after 56 years of marriage, Dieter's memory is honored and cherished by his loving sister Irene, his children Kenneth, Deborah (Jeff) Golladay, Steven (Dawn Taylor), Michael (Casey), and Kristine (Joseph) Soukup. Dieter's joy was multiplied through his grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Vergara, Jessica (Austin) Dobbs, Jeffrey Golladay, Anina (Austin) Wood, Ashlyn Nolan, Colin Nolan, Sarah (Bill) Hayes, Regan Bronst, Nathan Bronst, Dylan Bronst, Isabella Soukup, and Rosalie Soukup. Dieter also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Ava Vergara, Kira Vergara, Oliver Hayes, and Rowan Hayes. His nieces Linda (Jerry) LaGambina, Stefanie Mueller, and nephew Paul (Kim) Kyst, along with many great nieces and nephews, also survive him. Dieter's life was further enriched by the relationships with his extended family, including his brother-in-law Erling (the late Marion) Kyst. He was preceded in death by his nephews Brian and David Kyst, and, of course, his parents.
His friends and family will gather to honor and remember Dieter's remarkable life during a visitation on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home in Cary. His funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, August 5th, at 10:30 AM at the same location. Dieter will be laid to rest at Windridge Memorial Park, where he will join his beloved Birgit in eternal peace.
Dieter's life story is one of triumph over adversity, unwavering love for his family, and an unshakable belief in the value of hard work. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will endure through the lives of his descendants. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered as a man who built a life of purpose and left the world better for his presence.
