Daryl W. Tillman

 Daryl Windell Tillman passed away, 67, on February 16, 2023 in Barrington, Illinois. 

Born December 18, 1955 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he is the son of Willis Tillman and Myrtil Mitchell.

Daryl obtained his bachelor's degree in criminal law from Wayland Baptist University while serving his country. He dedicated three years in the Marines and twenty-one years in the Army. Daryl was a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Army Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, The Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, and The Korea Defense Service Medal. Following his service, he worked as an Army recruiter in Texas. He went on to work for the State of Illinois in the department of Human Services until his retirement in 2016.

He married Kathy Connors on September 20, 1997 in Inverness, Illinois. Daryl’s greatest joy was watching his 8 grandchildren grow up and spending time with them. He especially loved gardening, fishing, golfing, and relaxing at their lake house in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Myrtil Tillman, his sister, Francis, his daughter Susie Leach and his brother-in-law Joseph Hough. He will be lovingly remembered by, his wife, Kathy, his children Sean Tillman (Sandy), Earl Tillman, Chris Leach, John Connors (Gwyn), Steve Connors (Holly), siblings Gwen Humphrey (David), David Tillman, Danny Tillman, and Annette Zapata (Jacob). He will also be forever remembered by his 8 grandchildren, Christopher Leach (Samantha), Connor Leach (Hannah), Megan Leach, Kailey Connors, Logan Leach, Keegan Connors, Emma Connors, and Brady Connors.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Kahle-Moore Funeral home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL 60013. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM, on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 First Street, Cary, IL 60013. Following the mass, there will be Military Honors accorded at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 South Rawson Bridge Road, Cary, IL 60013.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Daryl’s name to: The American Cancer Society (American Cancer Society).
