Christopher R. Szlendak passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2023 at the age of 38. His family and friends are deeply saddened. Chris was born on July 26, 1984 in Chicago and has been a resident of Algonquin for the past 10 years. Chris is survived by his wife, Rachel Signorelli and fur babies Pickle, Braeburn, and Ginger; parents Roman and Elizabeth; sister Vicki (Nick) and niece Gwen Kelsey; and dearest friends CJ and Veronica Pappas.
He graduated from Jacobs High School and later became an auto mechanic. He had incredible mechanical talent, could fix anything, and found comfort and joy in repairing and restoring luxury boats. His passion was boating. He enjoyed being with friends and family, wakeboarding, and water skiing.
Chris had a zest for life. Although he was driven, challenged himself, and worked tirelessly, he never took life too seriously. He loved to make people laugh. His jolly laughter was so contagious it could fill up a room. Chris was never judgmental and always tried his hardest to make everyone happy. He was a kind-hearted man who would go out of his way to help anyone. Chris was an amazing person inside and out. Although his time on earth was short, the impact he had on those lives he touched was immense. He gave us memories that will last a lifetime. We were blessed to have him in our lives, and he will forever be remembered. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
