Carole Mae Matouski Obituary
Carole Mae Matouski, age 80, of Cary, IL, passed away on June 21, 2026. She was born July 1, 1945 in Chicago, IL to her loving parents, Clarence and Mae Helen (née Johnson) Roberg.
Carole devoted her life to her family and took great pride in creating a home filled with love, comfort, and care. Being a wife, mother, and homemaker was what mattered most to her, and she always made sure those around her felt welcome and cared for.
Raised in Chicago, IL, Carole graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1963. Throughout high school and for several more years, she enjoyed working at Chicago’s well-known Skrudland Photo Service. She also enjoyed horseback riding and spending time outdoors. Her love of animals remained a constant throughout her life, especially her affection for cats. She was known for helping feral cats, often supporting efforts to ensure they received veterinary care and access to local spay-and-neuter programs.
Carole had an eye for style and a love of both modern fashion and vintage treasures. She enjoyed collecting antiques and unique furnishings, appreciating the history and character they brought into her home. After raising her son, Carole volunteered at Twice Blessed, a resale shop supporting the Misericordia community. She valued the friendships she made there and took pride in supporting a cause close to her heart. Carole also found joy in life's simple pleasures. She never lost her sweet tooth, was a devoted Coca-Cola fan, and rarely turned down a trip to Portillo's for a hot dog.
Carole is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Matouski Jr.; her son, Paul Matouski IV; her stepdaughters, Michele Teel, Renee (Bill) Norberg, Denise (Elliot) Whitefield, and Laura (John) Cison; grandchildren, Ryan (Brianna) Teel and Austin Teel; Kyle, Eric, and Lindsey Norberg; Ashley and Robert Whitefield; John Jr., Bryce, and Julia Cison; and great-grandchild, Maverick Teel. She is also survived by many relatives and friends who will cherish her memory. Those preceding Carole in death are her loving parents, Clarence and Mae Helen (Johnson) Roberg; and her beloved son, Paul D. Matouski III.
Carole will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, sense of humor, love of animals, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her warmth, generosity, and appreciation for the simple joys in life left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.
