Carmencita Laruza, age 92, of Cary, IL, passed away on July 21, 2026. She was born July 11, 1934 in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines to her loving parents, Armondo Santos and Justina Santiago.

Carmencita was a committed accountant who worked for an industrial safety equipment company. She retired briefly in 2015 then started working at St. Edward’s Church in Chicago. 

Carmencita found joy spending time with her family and friends. She was the heart of every gathering as she enjoyed cooking and trying new dishes. Her other love was watching her Grandson Sean play baseball.

Carmencita’s life was a testament to her undying love for her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Maria Hogan; her loving son-in-law, Michael Hogan; and her cherished grandson, Sean Hogan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Armando and Justina Santos; her husband, Oscar Lanuza; and her son, Oscar Jr.

Visitation will be 9:30am until mass at 10:30am, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. First Street, Cary, IL 60013. Rev. Keith Romke will be officiating.

Interment to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
