Bonnie's journey began as a bright student, culminating in her graduation from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. There, she not only excelled academically but also formed lifelong
friendships as a proud member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Following graduation she was a
teacher’s aide for several years at Berkeley Elementary for students with disabilities. She also
read and recorded books on tape for the blind.
In her vibrant years, Bonnie met and married her soulmate, Michael E. Rogers. Their marriage
was a testament to love and partnership, lasting a remarkable 64 years. Together, they raised a
family that included their children, Michael Jr. (Missy) Rogers, Kathleen (Stephen) Barrett, and
the late Mark Rogers. Bonnie's role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she
approached it with the same dedication and care that she did all aspects of her life.
Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her cherished grandchildren, Jack, Dillon,
and Grace Barrett. Bonnie was the heart of their lives, offering not only her wisdom but also the
warmth of her presence. She was a teacher in all things, from the simplest life lessons to the
complex tapestry of human emotions.
Bonnie's legacy is also marked by her and her husband's contributions to the Chicago Marriage
Encounter, where they served as past leaders. Through their involvement, they touched the
lives of many couples, guiding them toward stronger, more fulfilling relationships.
Throughout her life, Bonnie embraced a variety of interests with enthusiasm. She had a green
thumb, finding peace and joy in the tranquility of her garden. Her hands were rarely still, as she
expressed her creativity through sewing and delighted her family with her culinary skills. Bonnie
was an avid reader, always keen to explore new worlds and ideas through the pages of a book.
Her love for travel took her on many adventures, but she found the greatest pleasure in the
simple moments spent with her grandchildren.
Bonnie was the epitome of kindness, her intelligence was a guiding light, and her loving nature
was felt by all who knew her. She had a gift for making each person feel valued and heard, a
testament to the depth of her empathy and understanding.
She was preceded in death by her son Mark and her parents, Garrett and Eleanor (nee Kehle)
Robar. These losses were felt deeply, but Bonnie's strength and grace always shone through,
even in the face of sorrow.
Bonnie's departure leaves a void in the lives of her survivors, including her devoted husband
Michael, her loving children and their spouses, and her adored grandchildren. Yet, her spirit
remains a comforting presence, a gentle reminder of the love and wisdom she shared.
Bonnie D. Rogers lived a life rich in love and service, and her memory will be cherished by all
who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the lives of her
family and the many hearts she has touched. Bonnie's journey through life was a testament to
the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be dearly missed
